PGMA ALLOTS P20 MILLION FOR ROAD IMPORVEMENT WORKS IN ZAMBOANGA CITY

In her recent visit in Zamboanga City, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ordered the release P20 Million for the immediate improvement of R.T. Lim Boulevard in Zamboanga City.
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebane Jr. said that the improvement of the Lim Boulevard will greatly improve the traffic condition in Zamboanga City as it serves as one of the main access roads going in and out of the metropolis.
" Zamboanga City is one of the busiest City in Mindanao. For the year 2008, records shows that the Zamboanga City Airport is the 2nd busiest airport in the country that's why keeping the road network in top condition within the city is vital for the economic activities in the area" Ebdane said.
DPWH Region IX Director Pedro Herrera said that the road rehabilitation works is also expected to generate a total of 30 new employment opportunities skilled and unskilled from the locality.
" In the the implementation of the Department's regular infra program, the DPWH Region IX Office has already generated a total of 1,322 skilled and unskilled workforce for the entire Zamboanga Peninsula" Herrera added.
