The Public Relations Society of the Philippines begins its 2009 Professional Development Series with a special half-day session on “The New PR – Leveraging Digital Influence to Drive Sales and Reputation” on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at GMA Network, EDSA corner Timog Avenue , Quezon City from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Open to the general public, the talk will tackle how to optimize PR--through digital means--for reputation, stakeholder and crisis management, especially in the face of the economic slump.

Guest speaker is Douglas F. Buemi, Regional Executive Advisor - Asia Pacific of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. For over three decades, Buemi has worked as journalist, government information officer, trade association executive, marketing and PR counselor, agency senior manager and entrepreneur.

At Ogilvy Public Relations, Buemi assists regional clients develop smart, creative PR campaigns that help build brands. He advises multi-national accounts and supports their integrated business communication initiatives. He is part of the business development team and is also a staff teacher/coach. Among the clients he has serviced are Hilton Hotels, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inns, American Airlines, American Suzuki, Del Monte Foods, Ford Motor Company, Rolex, Kellogg’s, Unilever, The Digital Entertainment Group, Warner Home Video, Sara Lee, Kahlua, Miller Brewing and Procter & Gamble.

Buemi is a cum laude graduate of the Ohio University School of Journalism and an adjunct professor of journalism at the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communications
