Seven-Point Migrants' Covenant
For nine years under the Arroyo administration the country's overseas labor in 123 nations worked doubly hard to keep the Philippine economy afloat, delivering an unprecedented $17.3 billion remittance in 2009. But majority of OFWs are experiencing an extremely terrible cost.
It's about time that migrants' welfare and protection be given much importance by the next leaders of the land. It's high time we hear who among the electoral hopefuls will commit to the interests of the migrants sector.
WHAT: A press conference of the biggest alliance of Filipino migrants organizations together with OFWs in distress and their relatives particularly the case of OFWs Joselito Zapanta, Edison Gonzales and Rolando Gonzales who are in death row, constituents in Pampanga, will challenge Pampanga local candidate to a seven point covenant that will put forward a program that will genuinely serve the interests of the OFWs and lay the foundation in achieving the OFWs dream.
