Mobile bus library launched for Abu Dhabi residents

Abu Dhabi - A mobile library on a bus was launched in Al Ain yesterday for the residents in Abu Dhabi emirate. KITAB Bus, the National Mobile Library, is part of a goal to ensure that all parts of the Abu Dhabi community have access to books and reading.

The Bus will make its debut at Bawadi Mall in Al Ain Sunday,  the first day of the Al Ain Reads (AAR) book show which will continue until October 10.

The bus will be home to hundreds of books, both Arabic and English. These will include fiction and non-fiction titles, chosen with readers of all ages in mind.

Throughout the book show, visitors can board the bus between 9am and 2pm daily where they will be able to participate in storytelling sessions, meet authors and take some time out to indulge in reading a favourite book.  Each evening from 5pm to 9pm, the Bus will visit a different location in the Al Ain area to ensure that everyone can get on board. A complete schedule of visits will be available at the AAR book show information desk in Bawadi Mall.

Over the coming months the KITAB Bus will continue to tour Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and the Western Region, making sure that everyone in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has the opportunity to fall in love with books.

KITAB's initiative is supported by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage and the Zayed Giving Initiative, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Emirates Transport, the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region and the Swiss Embassy, Abu Dhabi Media Company and the Al Ain Municipality.
