DPWH Braces for Typhoon “Pepeng”

 

            In preparation for the expected landfall of typhoon "Pepeng" in Cagayan Valley Region, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr. ordered the deployment of emergency equipment and maintenance crew along the critical road sections in Daang Maharlika and Manila North Road.

 

            "As forecasted by the PAGASA, the main track of Pepeng will pass through the Cagayan Valley Region that's why we are focusing our efforts in the landslide and flood prone areas in the said region" Ebdane said.

 

            Ebdane also instructed the DPWH Regions 1, 2 , 3,  Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance Office to conduct a 24 hour monitoring status of national roads starting today.

 

            A total of 48 pieces of equipment which are composed of 11 road graders, 9 pay-loaders, 13 dump trucks, 11 service vehicles, 2 bulldozers and 2 chainsaw and 200 maintenance crew are now deployed.

 

            In Cagayan, among the identified critical sections are the Magapit-Lallo Sectioon, Tugo-San Vicente Section, Junction Gatara-Kapisayan Section and Sta. Margarita-Bulud Section along Cagayan Valley Road, Sta. Praxedes Section of Manila North Road, Itawis Bridge along Cagayan Apayao Road, Divisoria Bridge along Cagayan Valley Road.

 

            In Isabela, the Talaytay Section in Ilagan Nagilan San Mariano Road, kilometer 344 of Daang Maharlika Highway and Jucntion Quirino Boundary.

 

            In Nueva Vizcaya, the Abian Section and Kalitlitan Section along Daang Maharlika Highway and in Quiriono along Gundanay-Kabarungan and San Leonardo-Aglipay Road.

 

            Meanwhile, the DPWH conducted today a relief operation for the victims of typhoon Ondoy in Gitnang Bayan, San Mateo Rizal.

 

            A total of two trucks of relief goods (2,500 bags) donated by DPWH officials and employees are now being distributed to the evacuees.

 

            The DPWH is still accepting donations at the identified drop off point along the DPWH Central Office Building Lobby at Bonifacio Drive Port Area, Manila.
