Chiz visits Lozada; signs Senate petition

Opposition Sen. Chiz Escudero yesterday said he has signed the petition asking the Manila Regional Trial Court to release ZTE-NBN whistleblower Jun Lozada in the custody of the Senate.

He also visited Lozada at the Manila Police Headquarters on Sunday to reiterate his support for Lozada who is facing perjury charges filed by former Secretary Mike Defensor.

"I visited him because he is a friend, a fellow Bicolano, and an ally in the fight against this administration," Escudero said.

"He is in good spirits and is getting his strength from the many people who have shown their support and faith in him," he added.

Escudero also said he has volunteered to provide legal assistance to Lozada and his wife who are facing at least 16 cases in various courts.

The senator also called anew on former Secretary Mike Defensor to drop the perjury complaint against Lozada.

"However unsolicited this may be, my advise is for Mike to consider dropping the complaint," Escudero said.
