BOC’s 2009 Chant - MORE AND BETTER SERVICE

This is the mantra and spirit of determination that Bureau of Customs Chief Napoleon L. Morales desires for the entire Bureau, on the occasion of the Flag Raising Ceremony and Awarding of Customs Officials, part of the 107th Anniversary Celebration of the nation’s 2nd largest income generating agency, Monday of February 2, 2009.
The BOC Commissioner recognized the dignity of labor of the Loyalty Awardees for their 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th and 40th and more years of service in the Bureau, including those of Distinguished/Outstanding Performance for 2008.
Morales commended the distinguished contributions by group of lawyers and prosecutors who won for the Bureau the case in the Supreme Court vs. Chevron Philippines, Inc., a landmark case restituting to the government the amount of 894 million plus 6% per annum and establishing jurisprudence on abandonment, an indicator of the bureau’s sizzling anti-smuggling and prosecution drive.
The BOC honcho also mentioned the Project Team who published and announced the Bureau’s Citizen Charter Project team in compliance of the Anti-Red Tape Act, and those who published the BIMP-EAGA CIQS Primer, for their invaluable contribution to realizing an international commitment of the Bureau giving our public a helpful transacting tool.
He also addressed with admiration the significance of the Task Force on Oil who monitored and reviewed imports that resulted to the collection of P2.13 billion of what could have been lost revenues.
And finally, Commissioner Morales expressed accolades to the Strategic Planning Team for the conceptualization of the 4-year Strategic Plan of Action of the BOC, for refocusing the bureau’s commitments.
Tomorrow, February 4, Wednesday, the bureau will be having its Thanksgiving mass to be officiated by Fr. Gerry Orbos, to be held at the Social Hall, Port of Manila Building at 12:00 noon.
The week-long anniversary celebration will be culminated on February 6, Friday, also at the POM Social Hall for the anniversary program. Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and Finance Secretary Margarito Teves are among the Cabinet officials who are expected to grace the occasion. The event will underscore “Commissioner’s 2008 Yearend Report” and “Commendation of OSG and BOC officials” among others.
