DPWH STARTS P121 MILLION JAPAN ASSISTED ROAD PROJECT IN ALBAY


 

 

With the apparent cessation of typhoon visits in our country, the Department of Public Works and Highways had now started the construction of the Ligao-Pio Duran Road Improvement Project, Contract Package 1 under the Arterial Road Links Development Project Phase V of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

In his report to DPWH Secretary Victor Domingo, DPWH Philippine Japan Highway Loan Project Director Maximo Carvajal said that the contractor had finished the deployment of heavy equipment and installation of their field office and now starting the actual construction of the vital road project.

" The completion of this arterial road is important especially for the agricultural industry in Pio Duran which has an increasing investment opportunities in  aquaculture and coconut " Carvajal said.

The Ligao-Pio Duran road project involves the construction of 5,240 lineal meters of Portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP), improvement of road shoulders, construction of drainage and slope protection works and installation of road safety devices.

 This P 121.9 Million road improvement project is jointly funded by JBIC and the Government of the Philippines and is scheduled to be completed by July next year.
