Philippines-Based Drugstore chain to leverage JDA to Support Future Growth

Philippines-Based Drugstore Chain to Leverage JDA Solutions to Support Future Growth and Increasingly Complex Business Operations

Scottsdale, Ariz. – May 11, 2009 – JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) announced today that Rose Pharmacy, Inc., a major drugstore chain in the Philippines with more than 140 locations, licensed JDA® Merchandise Management System and JDA® Space Planning to support the retailer’s growth and increasingly complex business operations.

The drugstore chain realized it needed an end-to-end, scalable merchandise management solution that offered warehousing, financial and business reporting/analytical capabilities, and could enhance inventory management efficiencies to avoid overstock and out-of-stock situations. Additionally, Rose Pharmacy sought a category management solution that could drive customer satisfaction and sales by efficiently executing demand-driven category plans. After an extensive evaluation process, the retailer selected JDA over other software vendors that provide ERP-based solutions because of JDA’s proven, industry-leading Merchandising and Category Management applications.

“In order to remain competitive, we needed proven, cost-effective and integrated technology that would enable us to adapt to evolving consumer demands and leverage growth opportunities,” said Emma Hassamal, vice president of operations, Rose Pharmacy. “With the JDA Merchandise Management System and Space Planning solutions, we will be able to execute optimal replenishment strategies to ensure we have the right products available in the right stores at the right time; manage the distribution of inventory internally and externally with our suppliers; handle business policies within one system; as well as produce category plans that optimize the position, performance and layout of product categories. We are looking forward to leveraging the JDA solutions to streamline our business processes and improve overall performance.”

Stephen McNulty, JDA Software regional vice president, Asia Pacific, commented, “Many retailers realize that trying to adapt traditional ERP solutions to solve very retail-specific merchandise management functions may create major challenges in their ability to effectively plan and execute their merchandise strategies. Some of the issues include gaps in replenishment and inventory management, as well as inadequate pricing and promotions capabilities – all of which may limit their ability to compete effectively and in a timely manner. The robust and scalable retail management functionalities needed in today’s challenging market can be best addressed by a true merchandise management system. In fact, JDA Merchandise Management System is being used by over 80 percent of major Philippine retailers over the last 10 years and has a proven track record of being able to meet and scale to their evolving retail management requirements.”

McNulty added, “Major retailers are also making investments in strategic planning areas like category management. Having the capability to get the right assortment of products to the right store and at the right time is critical to determining which companies will surface as leaders in the local retail industry. JDA's objective is to offer the most innovative solutions that enable retailers worldwide to address key challenges and support strategic initiatives. We are pleased to partner with Rose Pharmacy as it implements JDA’s Merchandising and Category Management solutions to more effectively operate and grow its business.”

JDA Space Planning is part of the JDA Category Management solution suite, built on the foundation of Intactix technology acquired by JDA in April 2000. JDA Category Management delivers fast ROI by enabling retailers and suppliers to drive overall profitability and consistent store execution, maximize sales per selling area and improve customer satisfaction through optimized strategic merchandising initiatives.
